Story:

Edmund West Wadey was born at 1 Beausley Rd Eastbourne to John Edmund Wadey & Ada Amelia West, the oldest sibling of 7 other brothers & sisters. In 1911 census he is listed as a laundry worker and this is the same occ as he has on his enlistment. He signed up for 12 yrs on 16 Sep 1913 at Eastbourne into the Navy as boy II then on 18 Jan 1914 became boy I and in 6 Aug 1914 became Ord seaman and in 22 Apr became Air Mech II and on to Act Air Mech I in 3 Jun 1917 , he was in Dunkirk as Air Obs between 1 Feb 15 till 31 Mar 1915 , when he into the RNAS on 22 Apr 1915 and then into RAF  on 11 Apr 1918 . and was awarded the DFM on 2 Nov 1918 . He married Ada Billingham on 7 Jun 1919 at Sth Hackney. He was killed in an aeroplane accident on the 1 Apr 1920 when flying between Khartoum & Cairo and was buried  Khartoum War Cemetery 9 C I
