Henry William Hagger
Birth Date: 1898
Death Date: 19 Aug 1918
Service Branch: Army
Service Number: 576422
Story:

Henry William Hagger – Died 19 Aug 1918, just 19.  Buried Daours Communal Cemetery Extension, Somme, France. Rifleman, 17th Batt. London Regt. Service No. 576422.

Henry William was born in Mile End in 1899.  In 1901 he was living in Pembroke Street, Islington with his parents Henry William Hagger and Alice Jane (nee Watson).  In 1911 he was living with his mother now a widow and his brother Herbert James born in 1905.  By the time he died his mother had remarried to Thomas Andrew Watson and was living back in Therfield, Hertfordshire where Henry W’s father had been born.

We can trace Henry W’s ancestry back to John Preston who married an Elizabeth Hagger but the family mainly used the name Hagger rather than Preston.  John Preston was Henry W’s Great * 3 Grandfather.
