Lewis Edward Drake was born in Gomersal, Yorkshire in 1877, the younger son of John Drake and Nancy (formerly Nancy Yeadon Butler) who were married on 29 Sep 1861 at Calverley St Wilfrid, and grandson of Joseph Drake of Charlotte (formerly Haley), who were married 6 May 1838 at Calverley St Wilfrid.
Lewis emigrated to Canada and was a Private in the 50th Battalion of the Canadian Infantry (Alberta Regiment) when he died aged 41 on 27 Sep 1918. He left a widow, Bertha, in Paris, Ontario.
Lewis is buried in Quarry Wood Cemetery, Sains les Marquoin (reference 3 A 29).
